Flash floods blocked roads and flooded homes in Khon Kaen, northeast Thailand, after two hours of continuous rain on Wednesday evening (September 30).

Footage from the city shows drivers and motorcycle riders battling through the deluge, which also poured into nearby shops and other businesses.

Several cars were water-damaged and abandoned, which added to the travel chaos.

Khon Kaen Governor Somsak Jangtrakul said: ''Khon Kaen was severely affected by the storm that passed through. Heavy rains will definitely cause floods so road users are instructed to travel with caution.''

The governor has also advised Khon Kaen road-users to avoid flood-prone routes for safer travelling.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia are going through their annual rainy season which lasts from May to October.
