This is the terrifying moment dozens of iron bars fell from a truck onto a family's car.

The overloaded vehicle was carrying the construction equipment into a shopping mall car park in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 3.

With the metal hanging precariously over the edge, the motorist behind failed to stay back from the heavy load.

The truck tried to drive up a ramp but - predictably - the iron railings came crashing down, landing in front of the vehicle.

The driver, Saran Lertpipattanagul, said his car suffered minor scratches but he was relieved to emerge unhurt.

He said: ''I had my wife and children in the car, so luckily, they were safe from the posts. We want to warn construction workers to be more careful about their work.

''If we had been a little bit closer to the truck, the posts could have smashed the windscreen and hurt us.''
