This is the heartwarming moment a clothes shop had a surprise quiz contest with prizes for the food delivery riders who bring their meals.

Emerson de la Cruz said their shop in Caloocan City would have closed down during the pandemic if not for the delivery riders who buy jackets and other gear from them.

He thought of surprising their loyal customers by ordering food from them and doing a mini-quiz show where the delivery man would answer questions and win a prize in return.

Footage shows a delivery man joining the surprise contest and winning a jacket after bringing food to the shop's workers.

Emerson said: "Our sewing business has been struggling for five months now because of the lockdown.

"We thought we wouldn't survive the pandemic, but the riders kept us alive because they bought gears from us."

Delivery riders are considered as essential workforce during the lockdown in the country so they were allowed to continue work even in high-risk areas like Metro Manila where all other businesses were forced to close.

The Philippines currently has more than 239,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases and more than 3,800 deaths. It also implemented the longest-running lockdown in the world.
