1. African Wild dogs have no relation to Wolves where all our domestic dogs and Dingo’s have their origin. This separated Wild dogs into their own category of Canids.
2. African Wild dogs are the second most endangered carnivore in African, behind the Ethiopian Wolf.
3. African Wild Dogs work as a team to take do prey like “Impala antelope”, They do not suffocate their prey but rather just tear it apart. This sends the prey into shock and they probably do not feel any pain. It is quick and efficient.
4. African Wild Dogs are the most successful hunters in Africa, with a success rate of between 20-30% compared to Lions at 10%.
5. African Wild dogs can maintain speeds of around 55 kmph and maintain them for us to 5 KM, meaning they can tire out their prey in order to be more successful hunters.
