Rocky my Staffy puppy is very demanding and insists on going out 3 or 4 times a day for walks so that he can meet up with his doggie friends, play and eat grass etc. However, instead of being cooperative before we leave in order to make the preparation easier, he undermines his own goal by employing various antics which cause delays. My puppy is his own worst enemy at times.
This video shows one behaviour which totally goes against common sense. Rocky steals my pumps preventing us from leaving, and then we get in to a lengthy game of tug-of-war. Rocky grips the footwear so tight in his teeth that the only way I can get them back is when he allows me to. This pre-walkies tantrum happens nearly every time we prepare to go out.
People always say to me that Rocky is cute and this is because he displays to them and their dogs, the gentle side of his nature, but behind this, and his good looks, Rocky is a determined demon dog. He is generally very loving and extremely funny, which is why when he is playing tug-of-war, even though I try to suppress it, my laughter wins through, and Rocky then knows that he has won also, but what he doesn’t realize is that he has lost out on more walkies time.
