This plane is protected during the pandemic - it has a face mask painted over its nose.

The Airbus A330 Neo belonging to Garuda Indonesia was unveiled with the blue PPE earlier this month.

Officials said the livery, named Ayo Pakai Masker, took more than 120 hours to finish with 60 people working on the project.

It features a blue surgical face mask covering the plane's nose with the strings seemingly blowing in the air behind.

The campaign aims to encourage people in the Covid-ravaged country to wear protective face masks, which are believed to reduce the spread of the virus.

The airline said: ''Unlike the plane, it doesn't require much effort for people to wear a mask.''

The company also challenged passenger to design mask liveries on another three of their aircraft. The winner will receive business class flight tickets.

Garuda Indonesia director Irfan Setiaputra said: ''As a national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia has always committed to the government's efforts of curbing the spread of Covid-19. One way we do that is by encouraging people to wear masks.''

Indonesia has suffered more than 307,000 cases of Covid-19 with more than 11,000 deaths as of October 5th.

Indonesia has the second-highest cases of Covid-19 in the South East Asia region, trailing behind the Philippines, with more than 325,000 cases.
