Members of the Ultra-Orthodox community gathered on the streets of Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday night (October 6) to protest against new COVID-19 restrictions.

The protesters were seen burning masks as they gathered in the Borough Park area of Brooklyn.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Tuesday imposed new restrictions on nine neighborhoods, including Borough Park, where COVID-19 rates are surging.

Violence erupted in Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday night (October 6) as orthodox Jews protested in response to recent lockdown measures by Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Conservative Jews were seen burning masks and marching in large groups at Boro Park in 13th Avenue after the order to close yeshivas, with synagogues also under threat.

The Governor had sparked outrage with new lockdown rules to contain coronavirus ''clusters''.

It will mean the closure of public and private schools in several areas with large Orthodox Jewish populations.

Yosef Hershkop, a Hasidic Jew from Brooklyn, said that people were ''burned out'' over the Covid-19 rules.
