Police clashed with students in Padang, Indonesia on Wednesday (October 7) as thousands took to streets to protest against the government's jobs law.

Footage shows students hurling projectiles at police forces, who used water cannons and tear gas.

Rejection of the Omnibus Law on the Work Creation Law which was passed by the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, on Monday, 5 October 2020,
received rejection from various elements of society in a number of regions in Indonesia.

One of them is in Padang City, West Sumatra Province. Thousands of students and university students held a demonstration on the road in front of the building
West Sumatra Regional Representative Council (DPRD). The mob could not enter the building's yard, because barbed wire had been installed by it
the police.

Even in the midst of the corona pandemic and under heavy rain, the enthusiasm of the masses did not decrease. They remain
until evening, because he was not satisfied with the response of the DPRD chairman. The crowd pelted the chairman of the DPRD when he got off the podium with bottles of drinks.
Even students who were under 17 years of age also threw stones at the police. They come from various regions.

The Job Creation Law is considered by many to be very detrimental to society, especially workers and benefits employers
and investors. In addition, it is also considered to have eroded authority
local government by the central government.
