Southern Africa has many species of spectacular insects, in particular the giant Saturn (or Silk) Moths (family Saturniidae) and their huge caterpillars. Many of the large caterpillars are eaten by people in Africa, particularly the Mopane Worm. This enormous Speckled Emperor (Gynasia maja) caterpillar is eating the leaves of a Round-leaved Teak (Pterocarpus rotundifolius) on the edge of the H5 Road in Kruger National Park.
