Intending to Join the Omnibus Law Demo for Job Creation, a Number of School Students Arrested by the Police

The Indonesian police arrested a number of high school students in the vicinity of the West Sumatra Provincial People's Representative Council (DPRD) office in Padang City. They were arrested because they were suspected of participating in the Omnibus Law demonstration of the Job Creation Law, Thursday (10/8/2020). They were taken to the Padang City Police Headquarters.
Meanwhile, demonstrations staged by hundreds of students were still ongoing, under tight police guard. On Wednesday (7/10/2020), a demonstration was also attended by thousands of students and school students in West Sumatra, in the same location.
The Job Creation Bill was rejected throughout Indonesia. Protests have been ongoing in a number of provinces since the Work Creation Bill was approved by the Indonesian Parliament and the central government on Monday (5/10/2020).
