Dozens of residents were rescued after being trapped in neck-deep flash floods that swept their village in the Philippines.

Rescuers wore orange life jackets while swimming across the flooded roads in the Sipalay town of Negros Occidental on October 7.

The residents lived in several different huts that stood on the pathway of the flash floods when the river swells in the morning.

They installed a thick rope to use as a lifeline and a boat so they can easily ferry the trapped residents to safer ground.

Displaced families were checked for injuries and taken to the evacuation centres where they will stay until the weather conditions are better.

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia are at the peak of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees regular tropical downpours.
