A Hampshire motorway had to be closed on Thursday evening (October 8) after a double-decker bus burst into flames.

The Blue Star service was travelling on the M27 between Portsmouth and Fareham in South East England,

Katy Trig Robinson, who was in the passenger seat of a passing vehicle, told Newsflare: "Whilst traveling from Southampton to Portsmouth on the M27, I could see black smoke billowing and as we got closer could see that a double-decker bus on fire. It was before the fire brigade had attended.

"There were no passengers on the bus, just the driver who I believe escaped shocked and unhurt. The traffic behind the bus was at a standstill for miles."

According to local media, no-one was onboard and no firefighters were injured. The motorway was later reopened and investigations are underway.
