UK driver slams on breaks to avoid would-be 'fatal accident' on UK motorway
This was the nail-biting moment a UK driver had to dodge a van hurtling down the wrong side of the motorway in what they described as a "fatal accident avoided by inches."
Footage from October 5 shows the incident on the M23 southbound near Crawley, where the driver narrowly avoids the oncoming car as another vehicle in the central lane speeds ahead giving room to dodge a head-on collision.
The filmer explained: "There were vehicles next to me in the other lanes so they couldn’t create space for me.
"I had to slam on my brakes then swerve to avoid a head-on collision.
"Afterwards I was shaking and my heart was pumping.
"I called 999 and they said they had been having reports of the same thing.
"Hopefully, no one was hurt after I passed him, it could easily have been a fatal accident."
