An agricultural bill was rejected on Monday (October 12) despite a last-ditch protest by farmers who drove tractors into Westminster.

Footage filmed on October 12 shows a convoy of farm vehicles driving around the Houses of Parliament brandishing "save British food" banners.

The group fear that after Brexit the British market will be flooded by products that don't meet current standards, such as meat raised in poor conditions, the routine use of antibiotics to treat farm animals and food additives currently banned under EU law.

Farming campaigners driving farm vehicles into Westminster in a last-ditch attempt to urge MPs to protect food standards failed when amendments to the Agricultural Bill were rejected by the House of Commons (October 12th).

The Bill governs future post-Brexit trade deals from 1st January 2020 and amendments ensure any imports meet a required domestic standard.
