Three people have been arrested by police in Hyderabad after a spate of dangerous selfie-taking on the newly inaugurated Durgam Cheruvu flyover.

Footage from October 6 shows multiple people using the highway and illuminated bridge as a backdrop for their photoshoots while traffic is still passing by.

Police are captured on CCTV racing to the scene where a duo of men are taking pictures. One of the men is seen fleeting the scene as police officers arrive.

Subsequent footage shows a couple on the busy highway wait to get into a central lane where they can snap the perfect picture.

At least three of the pictured amateur models and photographers have been arrested for breaching the disobedience and public nuisance acts under the India Penal Code.

Local police have issued over 2,000 similar citations for traffic violations on the new bridge.

Three persons have been arrested by police for taking shirtless photos on a newly inaugurated bridge in Hyderabad. The latest incident is just one out of 2000-plus cases that the police have booked against motorists for various offences after the Durgam Cheruvu flyover was inaugurated on Sep 26.

In the shirtless selfie case, the accused persons, were caught at the bridge while they were clicking photos. A police patrol car noticed one of the youngsters, who was shirtless and lying down in the middle of the road on the cable bridge. One of them was taking his photographs and another was watching. The police car then stopped and arrested three of them on the spot. A case has been registered by the Madhapur police under section 180 (disobedience to order) and section 290 (punishment for public nuisance) of the Indian Penal Code.

People stopping for selfies on the new bridge are risking their lives and that of others said a police officer. On October 1 a couple stood in the middle of the road to take photos. Traffic police has issued more than 2,000 challans against the people who violated traffic rules on the new bridge.
