A talented artist paints through a puppet at a night market in northern Thailand.

Pakpoom Maneewan, 60, controls a puppet in his lap to create artworks in his stall in Chiang Mai walking street.

Footage shows how he skillfully handles the moustached-doll to brush colourful paint on a piece of canvass while entertained customers watched on.

The elderly artist named his puppet Kam Keo and dressed it in a cowboy costume while wearing sunglasses.

Its arms are attached to a long paintbrush which the artist controls from behind making it appear that the doll is the one doing the painting.

Pakpoom said he thought of using his favourite puppet to paint to entertain his customers, but did not expect that it will draw attention from people.

He said: "I want to show my unique painting style so more people would appreciate my artworks. This area is usually buzzing with tourists."

Since he used Kam Keo, the artist has sold more of his artworks during the pandemic even after the tourists were gone due to travel bans.

Customers can watch him paint the artworks and buy it for 300 Baht a piece, or a little less than 8 GBP.
