This is the astonishing moment five people were seen crammed onto a motorbike in the Philippines.

Shocked road user RJ Abergas Saneca saw the rider with the four pillion passengers hanging from the motorcycle in Zamboanga del Sur province.

One passenger was crammed into the footwell, two were on the back and another was balancing on the side.

The youngsters had to cling to each other while driving at around 30mph on a newly-constructed road beside a rice field.

The confused driver said he wanted to beep his horn at the rider to remind him about road safety, but thought that it might be dangerous to startle the group.

He said: "I understand that people need to travel, but they could get into an accident and hurt other people."

The rider and his pillions eventually turned off the main road into a small village dirt track.

RJ said that they appeared to arrive safely into their homes and that they were so confident with the overloaded bike he believes they often travel like that.

Aside from not wearing proper helmets, the rider could be fined for overloading passengers with a fine of up to 6,000 pesos, or a little over 95 GBP.
