Nigeria: ‘End SARS’ Protest In Port Harcourt Against New Police Unit
People gathered in Port Harcourt, Nigeria protest against a new police unit to replace an agency that was disbanded following public outcry over its alleged human rights abuses, despite the governor's ban on demonstrations.
Nigerian police announced that Swat would carry out the duties which were done by the Special Anti Robbery Squad (Sars). After the announcement, many are using the hashtag #EndSwat or #EndSARS on SNS to oppose the new unit.
