An Indian rat snake was rescued from a 20-foot-deep well in northern India’s Uttarakhand on October 13.

The rescue operation was carried out in Jhajra of Dehradun.

A video from the operation shows rescue team lead Ravi Joshi weeding out tall plants to make way for himself to go down in the well.

He then makes use of the ladder to go down with a snake catcher in his hand.

He then uses the snake catcher to pick out a heavy sack which reveals the snake underneath.

He attempts to rescue the snake and wears gloves for protection.

Upon successful rescue, he climbs out of the well with the snake and holds it along its length.
