Flooding near an iron mine turned a nearby river "red" in the western Indian state of Karnataka.

Heavy rain in the town of Sandur created flash floods which turned a river a red colour due to the iron ore mine in the district.

This footage was filmed on September 12.

This happened after a heavy rain in Sandur taluk in Karnataka state of India. Heavy rain in mid September created flash floods, which was red in colour, in the area. People in different villages
gathered to watch the interesting phenomenon. Local people said water turned red due to extensive iron ore mining in the Bellary district where Sandur is located. Mining is controversial in the area as many of the companies do it illegally and unscientifically.
