Motorcycle riders carried across swollen river during floods in Cambodia
Motorcycle riders carried across a swollen river in an excavator during floods in Cambodia.
The city was hit with continuous days of heavy rain leaving the streets submerged by the deluge of muddy water.
Footage from outskirts of Phnom Penh shows workers helping locals cross the raging river by giving them a lift in the bucket of an excavator. Some people could even fit their motorcycles in the construction vehicle.
Cambodia has been hit by severe flash floods killing at least 11 people so far this month after seasonal rains were made worse by tropical storms.
More than 10,000 people had to be evacuated from the country's 19 out of 25 provinces, affecting 140,000 people in all.
The floods also submerged homes and destroyed hundreds of acres of rice crops that were supposed to be harvested in the next few weeks.
The heavy rains are expected to last in the next few days while two more tropical storms are expected to hit the country in the coming weeks.
