Gold worth $45425 seized at airport in southern India

Gold weighing 635 grams worth Rs 33.3 lakhs (USD 452425) was seized at an airport in southern India's Tamil Nadu on October 18.

The seizure took place at Chennai Airport.

Visuals show the recovered pieces of the yellow metal laid out on a table with the Customs officials.

16 pieces of gold cut into bits and concealed in petroleum jelly jars were recovered, along with gold in the form of paste from nine hair gel tubes.

Two passengers flying in from Kuwait and Dubai were held in relation to the recovery.
