A pet owner in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, documented her dog's journey from being paralysed from the neck down to being able to run again.

Amy filmed these progress videos over the course of four months from when 9-year-old Kim first regained control of her legs to when she was able to run normally again.

Amy told Newsflare: "The clips in the video span around four months of her recovery. From her first attempts to move to her being able to run around again, May to August time.

"The clips were originally sent to her physiotherapist to show her progress. Due to COVID restrictions, she wasn't allowed any in-person sessions, so it was all down to me in the end."

The filmer also wrote online: "I have no idea what started the original herniation. She was at the vets seven weeks before she was paralysed and was misdiagnosed with arthritis due to her age - she's 9.

"So I carried on letting her run around because she was on pain meds and supplements but that obviously made it worse until they ruptured.

"She had some serious complications and couldn't breathe by herself after surgery, so she was put on a ventilator and kept sedated for nearly 20 hours - that's on top of already being sedated for a good nine hours for tests and the surgery itself. After that, she spent three weeks in the ICU at the specialist vets.

"She had no movement at all for four weeks so I was moving her around every few hours to stop her getting sores."
