A member of Maharashtra's Animal Rescue Society was lowered down into a 150-foot-deep well to rescue an aggressive cobra that was stranded.

A farmer called the animal rescuers after spotting the snake stuck at the bottom of the well near Ahmednagar.

Akash Jadhav was lowered into the well on October 1 where he attempted to coax the cobra into a bag but the snake aggressively resisted.

After a short struggle, Jadhav managed to wrestle the snake into the bag and remove it from the well. The cobra was later released into a nearby forest.

Jadhav said: "The snake would have probably starved to death if we had not rescued. It was a tense rescue nevertheless and I am glad it ended well."
