The former executive mayor of Cape Town, Patricia De Lille, has laid charges of fraud, defamation and crime injuria against senior members of the Democratic Alliance, the party she was formerly a member of.

De Lille laid the charges against her former colleagues in the party at the Cape Town Central Police Station. The party members she laid charges against are: Mike Waters (Deputy Chief Whip), Bronwyn Engelbrecht, Henk Hugo and Shehana Kajee, the three being members of the national council of provinces. The four allegedly distributed a post purportedly from the auditor-general , which implicated De Lille in wrong doing. The auditor-general then confirmed the post was fake.
