Minnesota is bracing for a record-breaking first winter storm of the year with three to five inches of snow expected to hit the state over the next few days.

Footage shot by Twitter users @QuinnCasey91, @gopherhockeysi and @MarkJWestpfahl show the snowfall in White Bear Lake, Willmar and South Saint Paul, respectively.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the storm will move from west to east across the state, and commute will likely be affected.

According to local reports, it's the largest early season storm in the state, going back about 140 years.
