Terrifying moment residents flee as Tropical Storm Saudel causes landslide in Philippines
Shocking footage shows a raging flash flood with huge logs and rocks approaching as terrified residents run to safety in the Philippines.
The landslide carried the debris from hills after Tropical Storm Saudel brought heavy rain to the region.
Resident Noel Moteng said the deluge was caused after a river overflowed and drainage channels were blocked in Makilala, Cotabato province.
However, the villagers did not anticipate that the flash flood would carry rocks and logs from the mountain.
He said: “We ran away from the giant flood. It was terrifying. We always check where the water will flow so we can warn the people who live near the rivers.”
Tropical Storm Saudel continues to intensify and hit 23 provinces in the northern and central Philippines. It is also expected to dump heavy rains in the south until Friday (October 23).
