This is the amusing moment youngsters play basketball on a submerged court after heavy rain from tropical storm Saudel.

April Calvario Villasanta, who lives in the area, found the boys one the flooded basketball court in Quezon province, the Philippines on October 20.

The amused neighbour said they are used to annual flash floods, so the boys started playing outside in the waist-deep water even when the storm had passed.

She said: "The sky is still dark but the rain has stopped so they decided to play there. Some of us went out for a bit to watch. They were funny."

The players waded through the muddy water that had poured down from the mountains in the region. They also cannot dribble the ball because of the water.

April added that the rain started pouring again so the game was finished early, but they plan to continue it once the water recedes.

Tropical storm Saudel, known locally as Pepito, has passed through the Philippines but caused severe floodings, landslides, and massive evacuations across the region.

It has intensified into a severe tropical storm as it moves farther away from the country following the West Philippine Sea direction. It may still intensify in the coming days as it approaches China and Vietnam’s southern tip.
