This is the heartbreaking moment farmers save what is left of their crops after they were submerged in muddy floods during a tropical storm.

Dennis Rendon watched his neighbours in Cotabato, the Philippines, pick through the wet and damaged stalks of rice on October 17.

The crops were supposed to be harvested in a few week’s time until the storm hit their region.

Muddy flash floods have damaged properties such as homes and farmlands in the southern part of the country after days of heavy rains from tropical storm Ofel and another tropical storm Saudel entering the country afterwards.

Countries surrounding the West Philippine Sea such as Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China are on alert as the severe tropical storm Saudel follows that path.

The region is at the peak of their annual rainy season. Heavy rains this month have caused floods and landslides in central Vietnam and western Cambodia, forcing tens of thousands of people
