A honey-confusion bear appears in Indonesia village and startles local residents.

In footage filmed on October 5 in Kuok Tigo Koto, Agam district, West Sumatra, the bear seen will be crossing the village road but canceled and returning to the rice fields as greeted by the man who filming it.

The bear then ran in the rice fields to disappear into the forest.

Ela Karnaisis and Vinda Verdian the filmer said previously the bear was seen appearing in the rice fields while they were sitting in front of the house after lunch at around 01:00 p.m.

"The bear looked confused and we followed from a distance behind. The bear was going to cross the road but canceled as saw us, then turned around and ran into the forest," said Vinda.

Agam Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) officers learned of the bear's appearance from Ela's Facebook post 15 days later. BKSDA team went to the location to identify honey bears signs.

"As a result of identification, we didn't find any signs of footprints, scratches and or bear droppings at the location. Honey bears are thought to have only crossed the village because they got lost and came out of a protected forest area about 1 kilometer from the location," said the Controlling Officer. The bears are thought to be 3-4 years old with gender unknown.

Officers did not receive reports from residents about livestock that were lost or eaten by bears. However, the officer urged residents to be careful and vigilant when doing activities in the fields.
