Dozens gather in Westminster to protest against UK-US trade deal

Dozens of protesters gathered outside the House of Commons in London today (October 24th) to voice their opposition to a future UK-US trade deal.

Many of the activists from Global Justice Now dressed as chickens - a reference to chlorinated chicken which some fear could be sold in the UK if a trade deal is signed between the two nations.

The protesters are concerned that a future deal with the US would lead to further privatisation of the NHS and lower food standards.

The practice of chlorine washing chicken is banned in the UK, but it is common practice in the US poultry industry.
