This is the terrifying moment a tree was uprooted and blown onto a car as Typhoon Molave battered the Philippines.

Strong wind and heavy rain slammed into the country yesterday afternoon (October 25) as the storm moved towards Vietnam.

Footage shows how a huge tree was ripped from its roots and toppled onto the road, crashing into a Toyota Hilux on the way down.

CCCTV cameras outside a TV shop recorded the dramatic accident in Bulacan province.

The owner, Arnel, said: "I'm thankful that no one was hurt and the damage was repairable. However, the incident was still very dangerous and frightening.''

Strong gusts, heavy rain, tidal surges, flooding and mudslides battered the country today (October 26) as the typhoon made landfall and moved westwards.

More than 50,000 people have been displaced by the typhoon as it passes through the Southern Tagalog region.

Most of the evacuees were from villages that are prone to landslides, flash floods, storm surges, and mudflows.

The weather state bureau said the typhoon is expected to exit the country tomorrow (October 27).

In neighbouring Vietnam, which has already suffered severe damage and a high death toll from storms this month, officials were preparing for the arrival of Typhoon Molave.

Officials said they are ready to evacuate 1.3 million people as the storm intensifies.
