This is the adorable moment a baby crab was spotted feasting on a piece of cereal that fell on the floor.

The tiny crustacean pounced on the Cheerio with its claws before picking off bits and putting them in its mouth.

Fara Middleton, who lives near the sea, noticed the creature while she was having a morning walk by the bay in Mobile City, Alabama on October 21.

The resident and nature enthusiast said she took some of her cereal with her to eat during her walk and accidentally dropped some pieces, which the crab eagerly scooped up.

Fara said: "I love nature and the cute crab really made my day. It was not threatened by me and I think it wants to be friends after I gave it a snack."

The resident added that she goes by the bay to feed the fish and will occasionally see nervous and shy crabs that disappear quickly.

However, the little crab Fara saw that day did not appear to be afraid of humans as it did not skittle away when she approached.

She added the crab eventually left the dock and jumped into the water with the Cheerio.
