Peculiar foam formations on river surface startle locals in southern India
Peculiar patterns of foam forming in the water in river Godavari has people and officials worried in southern India's Telangana. The absurd formations were spotted in Godavarikhani in Peddapalli on October 24.
When contacted, officials suspected that it could be due to the mixing of untreated industrial effluents or sewage in river Godavari that could have led to the formation of designs of foam.
Videos of the strange development show interesting white thread-like patterns emerging on the surface of the water.
Executive Engineer of Telangana State Pollution Control Board, Ravi Das said it was a phenomenon being caused due to sewage water being discharged into the river without receiving proper treatment.
