Footage shows a ferry crashing into smaller boats and coastal homes after being battered by strong wind and waves during Typhoon Molave in the Philippines.

The MV Roromaster 3 was docked at a port in Batangas province on October 26 when it came loose and smashed into fishing boats and nearby houses. Terrified locals screamed as the incident unfolded.

More than 200,000 residents were affected, mostly in the Southern Tagalog region where Typhoon Molave, or Quinta as it is also known, made landfall multiple times.

Most of the evacuees were from villages that are prone to landslides, flash floods, storm surges, and mudflows.

Typhoon Molave is expected to exit the country today October 27 although it has already moved away from the landmass and is now hovering the South China Sea as it moves towards Vietnam.

Officials in Vietnam, which is still reeling from severe tropical storms this month, have prepared to evacuate more than 1.3 million people.

Typhoon Molave is then expected to move into Cambodia and Thailand.
