GMB calls on Next to pay a Living Wage

GMB union members protested outside Next in Eltham today delivering a 'Corporate ASBO' to the company for its failure to pay a living wage, for forcing its staff to accept new contracts of less than 12 hours a week to avoid National Insurance contributions and for its exploitation of young workers.

GMB Senior Organiser Andy Prendergast stated "In the middle of a recession it's disgraceful that Next avoids its obligations to pay National Insurance and putting its hard working employees on poverty wages. This large profitable company needs to do right by its workforce and to the rest of us paying their taxes in these hard times"
