Shopkeepers in the Jordanian capital were today (October 31st) removing French products from their shelves after calls to boycott all French goods amid ongoing anger over caricatures of Prophet Muhammad.

Footage showed shopkeepers clearing shelves of Vache Qui Rit cheeses, Perrier sparkling water and some French-made sweets.

Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets across the Muslim world in recent days following French President Emmanuel Macron's support for free speech and the right to publish cartoons considered blasphemous in Islam.

Many people in Jordan called on social media for the boycott of French products as a show of support for Muslims Prophet Muhammad, The protest call comes amid rising tension in response to French President Macron’s comments.
Today, many shops in the Jordanian capital, Amman, have removed French goods from shops.
