Storm Aiden battered the UK today (31st October) arriving in the South West of England in the early hours.

Planes at Bristol Airport are seen tackling the 40mph winds coming across the runway in the early hours of this morning.

Later in the clip, we see blue skies as the storm died down.

The first arrivals and departures of the day had the worst of the wind in terms of strength and direction, with gusts of 40mph coming directly from the south, right across the face of the runway. As the morning progressed and lunchtime approached the wind began veering to become more of a headwind, weakening also. Nonetheless, Storm Aiden continued to put the crew through their paces on what was another challenging day at Bristol Airport. Not long after midday the wind had really died down and what had been a morning of torrential showers, thunderstorms and gale force winds turned into blue skies and a pleasant afternoon - it's hard to believe these shots were filmed on the same day, let alone within the space of a few hours (see times in the bottom left).
