This is the amazing moment two monitor lizards had an MMA-style wrestling match in a woman's back garden.

The reptiles sparked panic and made the family's pet dog start barking wildly in Surin province, northeast Thailand, on October 29.

Khun Patcharakorn rushed to see what's happening and had a fright when she saw the massive lizards locked in a fight.

The mother-of-one watched while the two huge reptiles, estimated to be three feet long each, tried to take down each other.

One of the lizards was trying to bite the neck but was overpowered and pinned to the grass.

However, it summoned up all its strength and threw the other lizard to the ground while wrapping its leg around its body and climbing on its back like a move an MMA fight.

Terrified housewife Patcharakorn said that the lizards eventually left the property after one of them escaped - but only with several wounds.

She said: "At first they looked like they were hugging lovingly, but they were actually fighting. It became more violent and they tried to bite each other during the fight, and they pinned each other to the ground.

Male monitor lizards usually battle for mating supremacy by wrestling. The one that pushes the other onto the ground wins.
