SUV loses control and crashes into tuk-tuk in the Philippines
Four people were injured after an SUV lost control and hit a tuk-tuk before running over pedestrians along the road.
CCTV footage at a nearby tire shop shows the vehicle smashing into drive and passenger in Las Pinas City, the Philippines on October 23 afternoon
The tuk-tuk was seen rolling seven meters across the road before workers rushed to help the victims.
The driver also hit a motorcycle rider and a pedestrian before crashing on a concrete post to stop the vehicle which was not captured by the CCTV.
Miraculously, nobody involved in the crash was seriously hurt.
Ian Rosal, who lives nearby, said the driver honked its horn so the people would move after appearing to have lost control of the vehicle.
He said: “He was beeping on the people to notice him, but it happened too fast and ran over the people before they could move away.”
Onlookers called the paramedics who checked on the injured people before they were rushed to the hospital. Luckily, they only sustained bruises and minor wounds from the incident and nobody was seriously hurt.
The driver was identified as a 71-year-old man who was travelling home after picking up his car in a nearby repair shop.
Las Pinas Police Station chief Rodel Pastor said they are investigating why the old man lost control of the car before he will be charged.
He said: “The man said his car suddenly accelerated fast while driving and crashed it into a post so it would stop.”
The old man promised to pay for the damages and medical bills of those injured while the investigation is ongoing.
