This was the moment an 18-year-old man fled after the terror attack that killed four and injured several others in Vienna on early Tuesday morning (November 3).

Footage shows Ihab Elkilani running through Karntner Strasse towards the city's cathedral. Moments earlier, police had screamed at him and his friends to run.

He told Newsflare: "Me and my friends were out for drinks because it was the last day before lockdown, so we wanted to enjoy the last day.

"We were walking around and then we see police screaming at us to run away and right at that moment it was all black I couldn’t remember everything because we started running away, then I hear cars speeding and gunshots fired so we ran towards the cathedral where we thought it was safe.

"Everybody was running away scared and at that moment I lost my friends they went into another restaurant and I went into another cafe.

"We got locked in the cafe and waited until the police came and picked us up, so we were there from 8 pm till 3 am."

The video shows the moment of panic after Elkilani was allowed to leave the cafe but was forced to flee.

"We didn’t know what was happening outside then the police came and evacuated us and just as we thought it was going good and we can finally go home we hear screams so everybody starts running again to the police. The police said, 'Put your hands up and stay against the wall!' for security reasons so we did what they said and we kept standing there for about 30 minutes and it was really scary.

"Then the police evacuated us again to the opera house and said we all have to leave the first district as fast as we can."
