Wildlife officials in Kenya rescued a giraffe after a tyre became stuck around the animal's neck.

Footage filmed by Shazaad Kasmani shows wildlife officials tracking down the giraffe before sedating it and removing the tyre.

Kasmani said: "We received information that a giraffe at a wildlife refuge was spotted with a bizarre necklace around its neck.

"Upon arriving at the scene we discovered that Suzie the giraffe had somehow managed to get a discarded tyre around her neck. A strange choice of fashion accessory.

"After spending the whole afternoon tracking her on foot the wildlife vet and team managed to dart and sedate Suzie to quickly remove the tyre.

"She was also given treatment for the cuts and skin tears caused by the tyre around her neck. She has since made a full recovery."

The incident happened in October, 2019.
