Live dogs and cats were put into arcade machines as prizes for customers in a shopping mall in eastern China's Shanghai on November 3.

In the video, shot in Meng Zhi Long Shopping Mall, several cats and dogs were placed in a self-service arcade machine.

A girl was heard saying: "This is too much!"

Some people thought it was inappropriate to keep the live pets in the machine and that it is cruel on the animals.

The merchant issued an official statement to apologise and they have decided to stop the business.
