Teenagers caught 'scamming drivers with fake parking charges' have eyebrows shaved as punishment
Police punished two teenagers caught illegally demanding parking fees from drivers by shaving off their eyebrows.
Officers detained the lads while they were allegedly trying to extort parking charges from the road in front of Losari Beach in South Sulawesi province, Indonesia on October 31.
Footage shows one of the cops using a razor to remove the eyebrows of the youngsters after he admitted demanding cash from drivers for fake parking charges.
The strange punishment was carried out after a tourist who parked his car in front of the beach refused to pay and was allegedly threatened by the two so he called a police officer for help.
The police searched for the youngsters and questioned them in front of the tourist before he reportedly admitted extortion.
However, instead of taking them to the police station, the police officer bought a razor and began to remove their eyebrows.
They were also asked to admit the wrongdoing and apologise to the tourist while being filmed before the strange punishment.
Makassar City, Iman Hud, said the punishment was supposed to "discourage" the youths from doing it again.
He said: "The punishment serves as a light sanction so that they do not repeat their actions."
He added that beach visitors were no longer charged for parking fees since 2015 to boost tourism.
He said: "The two young men forced the owner of the vehicle to pay the parking fees. They even dared to threaten them.''
The two youths were warned not to try the scam again and were allowed to go home by the police officer after the incident.
