A brave man climbed the 15-metre tower of a mosque in West Sumatra, Indonesia on Friday (November 6th) to rescue a cat which had become stuck.

According to neighbours, the feline scaled the tower but had no idea how to descend.

Footage shows the man, believed to be the animal's owner, scale the interior of the structure as groups of locals gather to watch.

He reaches the top of the tower, picks up the ginger cat and carefully makes his way back down.

“We are super-relieved. We are just glad it is safe,” said a local who gave his name as Lukman.

Rescuing a cat stuck at the top of a worship place speaker tower in Indonesia made onlooker who saw the rescue process anxious.

Footage filmed on Friday afternoon (November 6) on Perawat street in Bukittinggi city shows a local climbing a tower to grab a cat that cannot come down from the top of a 15 meter high tower.

The yellow fur male cat still meowing when he saw a man coming up to him.

The cat was grabbed without any significant obstacles, however, the rescuer had difficulty descending the tower because his hand was hugging the cat to his chest.

The cat was finally rescued by means of the relay after another resident got on board to grab the cat.

Lukman, a resident who lives nearby, said the neighbor's pet was often trapped and couldn't come down from the top of the tower.

"The cat has often been trapped there. Every time it goes up it can't go down so it always has to be helped. We don't know how it goes up," Lukman said.

“We are super relieved. We are just glad it is always safe,” Lukman added.
