Driver dies and two others injured after truck smashes into cars waiting at traffic lights
A driver died and two others were injured after an out-of-control truck ploughed into vehicles waiting at traffic lights in Vietnam.
CCTV footage shows the 10-wheeler container lorry pushing a smaller truck in front before running over a car and four motorcycles in Bin Duong province on November 3.
The trucks drifted across the intersection before they stopped after hitting more vehicles along the way.
A 70-year-old man driving a black Toyota car died instantly after being crushed by the impact while two riders flung on the road were severely injured.
The smaller truck’s driver was stuck in his seat so the rescuers had to break down the passenger seat door to extract him. All of them were rushed to the hospital including the dead man.
Shocked onlookers called the rescuers for help before they arrived with an ambulance to check on the injured and rush them to the hospital.
One of the motorists said: ''We were waiting to cross the intersection when we heard the loud crash behind. It happened so fast, the next thing we knew, two trucks are running over vehicles beside us.''
The incident caused a traffic jam at the junction but the wreckage was cleared two hours after the police came to investigate.
Officers are still looking for the trailer truck driver that had caused the collision after he fled the scene.
