The lahar coming from the Mayon Volcano in Albay was triggered by the torrential rains brought by Typhoon Goni, also named Typhoon Rolly, in the Philippines on November 1.

Resident Kim Casil said he was heartbroken after seeing the old landmark almost erased by the typhoon including the houses and public structure in their village.

He said: “It is heartbreaking that all of our assets and businesses have been affected and there is nothing left.

Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) regional director Guillermo Molina said a task force created to check the extent of volcanic materials that cascaded down the slopes of the volcano.
