The local police of western India's Maharashtra uncovered and arrested goons trying to pass off duplicate gold biscuits as real gold on October 30.

The case was handled by the MIDC Police Station located in Mumbai's Andheri east.

A video witnessing the heroic feat of the police personnel features nearly 10 identical gold bars that were seized by the authorities. The goons were trying to get away with the scam money when the police made the arrest.

The goons duped a jeweler from Hyderabad for Rs 39 lakhs (52489 USD) after which he filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the MIDC Police Station, police said on November 1.

The jeweler was lured to Mumbai under the false pretence of selling him gold at lower prices. However, after inspecting the gold, he alerted the authorities.

The cops associated with the above-mentioned police station not only uncovered the racket but also arrested the two goons accused of running the racket.

The goons were filed under sections 420, 406 and 34 as per the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and further probe is underway.
