Local officials placed sandbags along roads to slow down flash floods in the mountainous region of Apayao, Philippines on November 11 during Typhoon Vamco, also known as Ulysses.

Residents helped officials secure the sandbags to block the water and create a safe pathway for villagers.

The weather state bureau said Typhoon Vamco will bring destructive winds and torrential rainfall to the Philippines, where thousands have been evacuated.

It is expected to leave on Friday (November 13) before heading to the central region of Vietnam.
