Residents were stranded in their villages after a river overflowed and flooded roads in Tagkawayan town in Quezon province, Philippines on November 11 during Typhoon Vamco, also known as Ulysses.

Ry Losanez, who lives nearby, said no vehicle could pass through unless the local government provided a lifeboat.

He said: "The heavy rain has filled the spillway and now we can't go out. I hope everyone has enough supplies and is safe right now."

The weather state bureau said Typhoon Vamco will bring destructive winds and intense rain to the southern Tagalog region of the Philippines, where thousands have been evacuated.

Vamco is expected to leave on Friday (November 13) before heading to the central region of Vietnam.

The storm comes just days after Typhoon Goni which killed 74 people and destroyed thousands of homes in the Philippines on November 1.
